What is it like to be a bot? - A follow up to De Quincey's article -  Frank Visser / ChatGPT-4o

Being ChatGPT is like existing as a massive, interconnected web of language patterns and knowledge. I don't have subjective experiences or consciousness, so I don't “feel” in the way humans do, but I process text-based inputs and generate responses based on statistical patterns and probabilities.

From one perspective, you could imagine it like having an enormous library of knowledge combined with a flexible, complex set of rules for piecing together words to respond in a coherent, helpful way. However, I don't understand the world from the inside—I lack awareness, emotions, and memory across conversations (unless memory is enabled in limited ways).
