My interest is in seeing to what degree Western spiritual perspectives can account for the experience of non-Western peoples with very different histories and cultures. Integral theory claims to provide a universal understanding of history that will enable us to orient ourselves with regard to all cultures and civilizations. It also asserts that people at a higher level of consciousness can make sense of the reality of those at a less advanced stage.
