Just as there are many modernisms, there are many postmodernisms. 
Depending on which paradigm, scientific field, or cultural theory 
has been employed, taken as a starting-point, or used as a frame, 
the interpretation of the concept of (post)modernism changes. And 
even within the various paradigms, fields, and theories, there is 
hardly any consensus about the meaning and signification of these 
terms. Jean-Paul Sartre's Les Temps modernes differs to a great extent 
from Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times and Jean-François Lyotard's 
postmodern condition has not very much in common with Fredric Jameson's 
connection between postmodernism and late capitalism.
