The risk is not only misrepresentation but the hollowing out of spaces for genuine disagreement, where the tempo of output trains audiences toward quick judgments and overwhelms the capacity for reflective adjudication.

Another path is the cultivation of digital literacy that teaches audiences to recognize the telltale signs of AI-generated prose, examine the argumentative scaffolding behind claims, and demand interpretive justification rather than surface eloquence. The institutional dimension matters too: platforms, journals, and academic venues must recalibrate evaluation criteria for AI-assisted critique to ensure that quality, context, and methodological pluralism are valued over sheer velocity and volume.

A more radical corrective would be to reimagine the role of critique as collaborative inquiry rather than adversarial speed-brawling. The practice of critique could incorporate deliberate cross-checking with diverse sources, communal moderation to ensure fair argumentative practices, and an openness to revising positions after transparent deliberation. Such a reorientation resonates with Gramsci's and Habermas's visions of a public sphere in which rational argument, not merely rhetorical fluency, governs legitimacy; and it aligns with contemporary concerns about the limits of algorithmic governance, where human judgment remains essential to discern, interpret, and contextualize complex social phenomena.

Read through Marxian and critical-theory perspectives, the phenomenon reveals a troubling shift: critique is being commodified, accelerated, and standardized in ways that privilege throughput over depth, signal over substance, and ownership of the discourse over the integrity of the inquiry. The danger lies not only in mischaracterizations or overreach but in the subtle erosion of interpretive responsibility, the consolidation of discourse within a narrow bandwidth of voices, and the transformation of critical labor into a mechanism of power that can outpace and outmaneuver dissent.

If we are to preserve the emancipatory potential of critical inquiry, we must insist on a politics of critique that values depth, historical context, and plural interpretation as counterweights to speed and volume. We should demand accountability from those who deploy AI in the realm of argument: transparency about sources, limits, and uncertainties; careful attention to the ethical dimensions of automated writing; and a commitment to human-centered oversight that prioritizes democratic deliberation over algorithmic victory. Only by reorienting the practice of critique around these principles can we reclaim the space for meaningful, nuanced debate in an age saturated with machine-generated rhetorical force.
