EXPLAINING CONSCIOUSNESS - Andrea Diem-Lane

Why do we think the way we do" Or, more in line with the theme of philosophy, 
why does the question "why" arise so much in human beings? 

There have been, to be sure, many answers to these queries from time immemorial. 
Countless religions have been created to resolve these perennial questions, each 
with differing successes. Even science has gotten into the fray with the blossoming 
of psychology as a distinct discipline in the latter part of the 19th century. 

Charles Darwin made a very pregnant prediction near the end of his classic 1859 
tome when he opined that evolutionary theory would radically transform other fields 
of research. He even went so far as to say that "Psychology will be based on a new 
foundation, that of the necessary acquirement of each mental power and gradation." 
He could have just as easily substituted Philosophy.
